Anti-Earthquake Handbook for Foreigners

We know that Chile is one of the countries with the most earthquakes in the world, but this for Chileans does not take away our sleep because we are already used to it and only at a certain level can we be slightly frightened; now we have designed with the team of international students Santiago this scale of how Chileans react to different levels of seismic movements

1° to 3° Richter - Absolutely no reaction: Chileans have mutated and are unable to feel such smooth seismic movements. They are something like the X-men of the earthquake, none perceives these degrees.

4° to 5° Richter – No reaction: The Chilean knows he is trembling, but he is not going to interrupt what he is doing. Nor will it interrupt what he is not doing, zero importance, while the terrified foreigners think they are crazy.

6 Richter - The Chilean says "Ta temblando" (Is trembling): You will believe that it is the end of the world, but nothing happens, do not even think about leaving, which is much more dangerous. Rest easy, look at the Chilean carefully and wait, and please return to our country, or at least not make us a bad name, if there are not so many natural disasters that we have, 6° is still small.

7° Richter - The Chilean says "Ta fuerte la wéa" (The earthquake is strong): We can already start talking about an earthquake. In other countries it would be a total cataclysm, but here the buildings hold up (and those that don't, have already fallen with the other earthquakes in the past). Okay, we understand if you never want to return to Chile. Hire a good psychologist for post-traumatic stress, "la dura" (seriously), because nobody will worry here, unless the glass has been overturned.

8° Richter - The Chilean says "FUCK." Hold yourself because if not, you will fall to the ground. Do exactly the same as the Chilean: don't cry, let alone scream. It is very likely that nothing will happen ... and if things fall, the next day we raise and here nothing happened.

9° Richter - The Chilean is praying (and he does not believe in anything): Now it really is the end of the world, the Apocalypse. If you believe in something, pray, but think about your loved ones because everything has come to an end ...
